AM I ELIGIBLE FOR FREE SOLAR?

The free solar offer is subject to eligibility of both you, your home and the suitability of your property to have solar installed.  Please see below for further details

YOU WILL NEED TO BE ON BENEFITS OR HAVE A HOUSEHOLD INCOME BELOW £30k

In order to be eligible for the free solar, you or someone else living in your home must be in receipt of an eligible benefit.  You may also be eligible if you have a total gross household income below £31,000 and in some case, you may be eligible if you have a child aged 5 or under, or if your children receive free school meals, or if someone in your home is over 65, or if you receive Council Tax Reduction due to a low income, or if someone in your home suffers from a disability or long term illness.

YOUR HOME MUST HAVE AN EPC RATING OF E, F, OR G

In order to find out what EPC rating your home has, please go to www.epcregister.com and search for your home by entering in your postcode.  If your home does not have an EPC, it may still be eligible if it is electrically heated.  We will need to complete a new energy rating of your home, to ensure that it does meet the criteria of being an E, F or G rating, as sometimes works may have been completed in your home such as insulation, which means that is has an EPC rating of D or above and is no longer eligible.

YOUR HOME MUST MEET CERTAIN INSULATION REQUIREMENTS

If your home has cavity walls, these must be insulated and your roof must also be insulated to a minimum standard.  If your home is not already adequately insulated, we can complete this work before installing the solar.  Loft and cavity wall insulation should also be free, but if your home has any flat roofs,  a room in the roof, or any pitched ceilings with no access to a loft space, we will be unable to offer these works for your home.

YOUR HOME MUST BE HEATED BY ELECTRICITY

The grants for the free solar require your home to be heated predominantly by an electric heating system, this could be plug in electric heaters, storage heaters, a heat pump or an electric boiler. If your home has plug in heaters, or older style storage heaters, we must upgrade these to modern high heat retention storage heaters before being able to install the solar PV and there is additional grant funding to help towards the cost of doing this.

Please Note: All works are subject to:

  • confirmation of your individual eligibility

  • confirmation that your property is eligible

  • a site suitability survey

  • obtaining any necessary permissions

  • limited funding availability
